Ron Spins
(husband discovers wheel)

Women! Do you have a retired partner who used to _____(fill in blank), and now has time on his hands? Could he be lured into spinning yarn for you--wool, llama, silk?

It happened to me-it could work for you!

After visiting the N.Y. Sheep & Wool Festival in 2002, Ron was enthusiastic about spinning demonstrations. Maybe he'd learn how.

Began with drop spindle--2 CDs and a stick-- with Claudia Krisniski, www.Countrywool.com in upstate New York.

Next, an over-the-top, weekend adventure with Judy and Dirk Tysmans at Shady Grove Farm in Apex, North Carolina.
Helping to shear sheep--even in the rain-- learning how to spin on a wheel, card, ply, and dye wool.
Final product included wool from Tysman sheep, goat, dog (!), cotton and silk.

Six months later, Ron bought a Babe's Wheel at Maryland Sheep & Wool. Here he could try out this low-cost. great beginner wheel made from PVC pipe. Easy to assemble at home.

Great addition to our adventures--and my stash!
