| Welcome to This Dirt Museum, a conceptual installation, by Naomi Dagen Bloom, October 2001 at Queens Botanical Garden, Flushing, New York. | |

Transformation awaits as you walk through the door.
Just as garbage naturally changes to the rich substance call compost,
so too a weathered, rusty plant shop in a botanical garden became a lively,
interactive exhibition space.
For three weekends more then 800 women, men, children had remarkable experiences in sight, sound and touch...seeing up close, hearing about, holding red wiggler worms-and their generous gift, vermicompost, a/k/a black gold." |

"Indoor composting with a worm bin is something [we] recommend to apartment dwellers who do not have an outdoor area...While many New Yorkers are skeptical about bringing the composting process inside, Ms. Bloom's work boldly and provocatively gets people to take notice of the possibility." -Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse & Recycling New York City Department of Sanitation |

| Exhibition funded in part with grants from The Puffin Foundation & Thanks Be To Grandmother Winifred Foundation... additional support from NYC Department of Sanitation, Materials for the Arts, Queens Botanical Garden. | |
